theShadow Art Fair

The Shadow Art Fair is a juried event that allows local artists to exhibit and sell their works within a comfortable, friendly, and supportive setting. This one-day, 12–hour event is held two times a year at The Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Local music, featured brews, and other special activities add a distinct flavor and sense of community to this creative showcase. More info »

The Shadow Art Fair was created and is organized by the Michigan Design Militia.

The Shadow Arts Grant: We have money to give to the arts.

We believe in supporting art in the community, and that’s why in 2008 we started a fund earmarked for arts-related grants. The money raised at the Shadow Art Fair (from the two-cent admission fee, and the special Shadow Brews, for instance) supply the grant fund, then we make it available to local artists to help them with their awesome ideas. For 2009, we had $1000 available. The Dreamland Theater is the recipient for this year’s grant, which will fund their History of Ypsilanti puppet show project. The next round of grant-giving will happen in 2010.
